Swapping cars in shop

Finished up working on Candy and therefore she needs to get back to her owner. I always enjoy driving a project out of the shop. It means the next can be dragged or pulled in for work. Today that means my Ultima.

Although first I needed to figure out how to get this Quaife gearbox into reverse. Lucky its easy enough race drivers can figure it out and I got Candy into reverse and out of the shop. Parked her right next to a real shitbox…I mean racecar.

Had some good friends over to hang out and lend a hand moving all the cars. Made quick work of this important job and let us get back to important things like watching the smoker, drinking beer and telling stories!

Then of course had to tuck away Candy for safe keeping until Cam can pick her up. Obviously played musical cars again to move everything else back into its proper place before enjoying the afternoon with buddies.

Place your bets

As you may or may not know, projects tend to take much longer than expected. Due to this reality there are two options to meet deadlines…. find an event you must attend or have your friends bet against you. Today we chose the latter. Thanks guys! Hoping you made your bets wisely and have confidence in me!!

Up up and onto stands!

I wanted to find some way to move the Ultima without requiring multiple people and getting it up onto the saw horses. This will make working on it much easier, likely will live in this state for a few months.

Enter Homie Depot and some sweet straps. One 20 foot long 7,000 lb rated recovery strap, a pair of strap loops good for 1,100 lbs and one engine hoist. Formula 1 inspired Ultima lift.

Precision in action

My next post should be much more exciting with some actual progress instead of merely moving it around or betting on when I’ll loose the bet for completion. Keep tuned for more progress and thank you everyone for a great weekend!
