Another Engine for the Ultima!?

Did I mention a full long block is heavy?

I have been debating over the last few months about how best to deal with the installation and routing of everything in the car. I really don’t want to place/pull the real LS7 multiple times. It brings two problems; its heavy and risks damaging things every time its placed.

Original idea was to find a rigid foam block, but those are pricey at ~$475.

Plus then what do I do with a huge chunk of foam….

Speedway to the rescue!

They make a mock up block out of thin laser cut steel sheets that bolt together. meaning it can be stored in a smaller space and worst case very long term it is merely steel. Better for environment, better for my shop space, better for long term usage (if LS blocks ever become extinct). Overall weight is 36 lbs according my bathroom scale. A little heavier than a foam one, but wayyyy lighter than the actual engine.

Adding a bit of spray paint

Bare steel needs some protection even though it looks great bare.

Looking forward to using this during the course of my build
