RS Blog 3 - Removing the Final Portion of Body

Simple short post about the Ultima. This was removing the last piece of orange fiberglass hiding that sexy chassis. Just a few pictures documenting some spacers and the final state.

One key item to note when removing the center shell.

  1. Keep the doors closed and taped across all seams. This helped keep the entire body more rigid while removing.

  2. Gently pick up the rear an inch or two

  3. Then lift the entire body, it took a bit of force to slide the body over the cross brace for steering column.

  4. Very gently pick up vertically and walk to a safe spot for temporary storage

Very much appreciate the help from Colleen, Kai, and Amanda to get the body off. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Now I can actually start working on it, the next post will include some time lapse and sweet pictures of cockpit panel fitment.
