Hover Mode Enabled

The best off-road upgrade is to install anti-gravity suspension aka hover mode. While it hasn’t been invented I think I’ll be able to sort it out. Step one is to remove all the current wheels, tires, wishbones and shocks. Next step is to be a genius and invent something no one else ever has….. Or like a normal person just wash parts and get them ready for a suspension upgrade to long travel.

Some pictures of the dirt and debris after a bit of off-roading post basic paco 3” lift.

Honestly things didn’t look too bad until I started to notice most of the rubber parts were destroyed or on their way to being ruined. Apparently 8 years of track/street plus off-road was just too much for the V-maxx setup by Flyin Miata. I’m very impressed by how they held up over the years of much abuse and would highly recommend them to any Miata owner. They rode pretty nice, handled well enough and clearly survived. If my car ends up back as a back road carver I’ll be ordering a new set from FM, maybe without their dual spring setup as it had some coil bind issues occasionally.

Enjoy some rubber carnage, didn’t know you could blow out bump stops….

As I installed polyurethane bushings at the same time as getting my V-maxx coil overs I figured it is time to replace them. I can’t remember if I re-greased them at some point or if that was Cremesicle. Either way years of neglect and punishment….Means everything is squeaking even though I thoroughly covered them in grease (whatever nasty terrible substance they call grease). Again I’m surprised how well these things held up. Thanks FM for supplying great parts!

Hopefully I’ll find some time in the next week or so to deep wash all the parts, replace bushing with new poly and install the new shiny long travel suspension. Then it will be time to run over some more curbs! Until that time have a great holiday.
