Tech Tip - Fuel Line Tool

Part of working on the Morgan engine swap raised a question about replacing the fuel lines to mate the rubber lines in the chassis to the hard line on the miata fuel rail.

Lisle 39400 Angled Disconnect Tool Set

Barb fittings are listed in the original post, but now wanted to capture how to remove them for future reference. Yes I am sure there are plenty of other how-to-guides, but I don’t feel like finding them and had the pieces just laying around the shop.

Hope this helps Greg & Lynn!

Place tool around hard line

Depending on location this can be simple or extremely annoying… Good luck!

Push Down

Goal is to slide the tool down, popping out the little plastic lock inside the fuel line connector. Again patience is key, remember the plastic is likely old and doesn’t want to move.

Pull off connector

This can be tricky, you’ll feel like you should push the tool down… Don’t. It will hit a stop on the hard line and infuriate you while not letting the connector off. Focus on keeping the tool down and pull on the connector itself.
