Laguna Seca on Two Wheels

While I did end up at the world famous race track once again, it wasn’t for internal combustion wheeled things. Just a fun weekend camping with the WRX to enjoy the one and only Sea Otter Classic.

Took the opportunity to continue testing my ‘overland’ setup. After arriving and setting up atop the hills overlooking T11 I discovered that it was going to be a hot weekend. Promptly decided we were going to need shade. A quick search and voila I found a Kelty Waypoint Car Tarp at the local REI.

Ordered and waited for buddies to arrive. Super easy to setup by yourself, anchors included and we had shade. Turns out it was windy with gusts of 20 mph, new purchase held up nicely. Look forward to using again in the future. Only complaint is the height, but likely a problem since I used on my WRX instead of an actual SUV.

Evening Relaxation

Evan, Erik and me chilling with the Solo Stove. Great to have a small fire over the weekend.

I need to get off my ass and start riding again. I was just as fast as them before getting lazy.

Fun enough for me to hang out on the sidelines this year and enjoy a little exercise and beer.

Self Given Responsibility for the weekend (below)

Sitting in splash zone of DH course and helping the unlucky ones while medical hurries over to provide real assistance.

Also making lots of noise with a bell…

Me and Troy

Final part of the weekend is always Dual Slalom on the parking lot area of the track. Crowds are back to the normal size, but we did miss the chaos at the first big turn. Usually extra noise, craziness and ‘Murica there, perhaps they will return next year.
