BajaXL Day 0 - Traveling to De Anza Springs and Pre-Event Activities

The journey begins with fingers crossed.

Hoping I haven't made a huge mistake by entering a Miata for a 4000 km event across the entirety of Baja.

We shall soon know!!

Roughly 500 miles down to the resort, overall this was an uneventful part of the trip.  Car running pretty good minus the few engine rattles, hoping they don't get any worse.  I likely should have rebuilt the engine, but too late now. Only plan now is to keep on toping off oil and listening for new noises.
The resort was very remote, roughly an hour away from San Diego.  If you wanted to get away for a weekend (and were okay with being at a nudist colony) it was very nice.  The winter likely helped minimize resulting skin exposure.  :)

DeAnza Springs Resort

We made it down the resort a day prior to race start so we could relax and meet new friends.  Begin the new day of making friends!

Getting Our “Race” numbers

Always the fun part of any race is talking with the organizers and getting credentials. Very grateful for their efforts to put together all the details and share the adventure with us crazies. At this point we are officially participants and therefore must finish the race.

Tomorrow is the beginning of our fun and challenges!

We shall wake up to chilly but clear weather and Jetboil coffee… Then we ride.

Team La Respuesta!

Time for beer, tacos and dirt
