New Project Car - One of the Twins

The beginning of a new potential endeavor with a friend, something along the lines of track cars and HPDE events. First action was to acquire a car, a BRZ or FRS… This all started with a casual conversation at the local taco joint. A week later, Fred had found a potential car for sale and wanted me to look at it. Fast forward a few days and I was buying plane tickets to Arizona…. Yes it happened about that quick.

Information provided before the trip, its a 2013 Toyota FR-S with some modifications; widebody kit, supercharged on E85 and a bit of suspension. Secondly I was to meet up with the owner, Hector, and he would be picking me up from the airport. Third I had the final $$$ to make the deal wired to my account. A recipe for excitement or terror, I didn’t know until I arrived in Phoenix.

Amazing People

This trip reminded me how great people actually can be. I ended up spending the day with Hector and his great family, Selena and Enzo. It was a great day hanging out and chatting about cars, utilities, off the grid things and enjoying some sushi. Another instance of how cool car people are, I’m sure others are cool also but I’m a bit biased.

Started the afternoon in Arizona by being picked up from airport in Hector’s Charger, threw me for a little loop considering I was here to look at an FR-S. All good, on the way to his home we were able to find common ground of cars and chatted about track cars and modifications. At this point I was mostly sure I wasn’t being harvested for organs….but didn’t know for sure.

Got to his home and he showed me the car along with Halloween, Christmas and birthday decorations. Lol. Very festive and a sign of a normal person that has a busy life. At this point I took some pictures of the car and got my eye on things. Took a quick drive and then all was in good order and we proceeded to finalize the deal.

Shipping the Car

Final loading of the car required splitter removal at the local shop, TMC Auto Repair. We ended up watching the car get loaded and clutch be abused a bit. I missed recording the ramps becoming literal projectiles via rear wheels. Quite exciting, but eventually the FR-S was safe and sound on its way to Concord, CA (not my house).

Fast forward an entire day…..

Made my flight home after Hector dropped me off at the airport. Thank you for the amazing hospitality!!! You and your family are always welcome if you make it out to California. I hope to return the favor in the future, maybe a fun track weekend in Monterey?

Thursday evening I received a message from Hector saying the transport crew wanted to know when they could drop off the car, I assumed it would be dropped at a shop storing Fred’s 911. Turns out they had my address. So thanks Fred…. Guess I’m storing it and need to think about buying a storage place.

Next day, Friday morning, it arrived.

Stay tuned for more with this awesome car. We will be taking it to the wonderful tracks in California!
