Broken Miatas Day

Colleen and I were invited up to Sacramento to play in the dirt and enjoy a cold beer at a local brewery hosting a Miata event. Sounded like a great day, it turned out to be with a few unexpected surprises. Day prior included painting and slapping in the new shiny driveline. Baja successfully kill another part…. U-joints collected some dirt and were no longer happy.

Thanks to Drive Line Service of San Leandro for the quick turn around, within a few days, building a new drive shaft. Looking clean and putting down power.

In case your wondering what a sound of failing u-joints is, you’re in luck! I have a few shorts of it.

Cars and Coffee - El Dorado Hills

Flenn had us meetup at the best collection of various cool cars. We were definitely the odd ones, still fun to roll up with fellow gamblers.

Leaving the Lava for Sweet Dirt

After wandering around looking at cars with wheels more valuable that our entire car we rolling out to Prairie City SVRA. Definitely going to be a good day! Let’s go! Oh wait….the battery says it doesn’t want to play. Literally died at the entrance to the park and was pushed in.

Big thanks to Flenn and his 1.6 Miata’s ability to run without a battery. AAA was quick to respond, but didn’t have the correct size so I had to resort to other options. Borrowing his battery we ran into town with A/C off, fans off and blinkers in BMW mode. Picked up a new battery and multimeter to check charging circuit. Extra fun, alternator is in fact doing nothing. A bit more searching in town and found a remanufactured alternator.

Miata two was wounded while we were driving around finding parts. Upper control arm long bolt lost it’s nut. Not great for handling. 😀

Evening Show & Brews

After a day of adventure without traveling more than 10 miles, we headed into town to join the festivities at New Glory Craft Brewery. Fun evening with friends along with more unique cars. Chatted with Mike Haag, whom is a lifesaver for those bearings. They have a pair of very clean race prepped NC Miatas.

Until the next adventure! See you out there.
