BajaXL 2025 Day 7 - Todos Santos to San Juanico
Today was an excellent day. We were refreshed, we hadn’t checked oil or coolant levels, woke up to an amazing sunrise, and knew North was our direction. At this point in the trip we are always doing great. In theory we’ve survived the rocky sections somehow and recharged with sun power. Before rolling out into sand we checked out Todos Santos plaza to secure some trinkets. Found a few really neat art installations near the mission. Other silly side note, while walking about we heard Duolingo dings… locals were working on learning English as us ‘merican’s were trying to learn Spanish. World is a funny place filled with a bunch of simple humans just trying to make it.
Time to go wander our way North in the desert!
This part of the trip is pretty amazing, there are sandy desert roads just wandering everywhere along the coast. The biggest trick is to not get stuck behind a local’s gate. Lucky for us we have some tracks from previous years and land doesn’t change too quickly. Running along old tracks make the day nice and easy….
Miata still managed to puncture a right front on some rocks. I don’t blame the Cooper Winter tires on this, I was the fool taking Winter tires to Mexico for thousands of miles… twice. Surprised they survived this long. Fifteen minutes later and the spare Chad was carrying for me was on and we were off again.
Also yes we got stuck a few times in very soft (this cannot be understated, moon fucking dust) sand.
If you are ever at this coordinate and disagree it is moon dust then we have different interpretations of powder.
Depositing Backpacks and Toys
Yes we were sticking our arms through their fence.
No we weren’t stealing the Amazon box of goodies. Don’t worry they don’t deliver this far south. We were being good citizen’s acting like white Santa.
We aren’t always good little children, but when it comes to children we are always good.
Thanks Chad for being one of the good guys.
Until Manana!
I’m sure there will be a gorgeous sunrise on perhaps a sandy beach.
