BajaXL 2025 Day 4 - Bahia Concepción to La Paz

One of our more low key days. Trying to relax in between some of the absurd Miata off-roading. Started by waking up on a lovely small beach with noisy neighbors. They would not stop laughing, presumably at us.

Since we were disconnected from the main group we tried to figure out where they all got off to. Eventually we heard honking from nearby road and realized they were all already on road, waving as they passed.

One challenge for the day was to avoid all cops, since we were running highway all day this meant we had to not speed too much. While making our way over the pass I mildly sped until we found some trailers slowly moving over the hills. We did manage to pass them and then encountered some federal police on the hill. I slowed down and kept my distance. After crossing the hills I passed the baton to Mike and he rolled along at 75 mph. Unfortunately this was way too fast for the local enforcement and he immediately was stopped.

While today was pretty mild, we ended up getting a bit lost in La Paz. A town that shouldn’t be too hard to navigate as mapping software knows it. We stopped outside town and made a plan to head to camp, then promptly meandered through the streets getting further and further away from our destination. Eventually I took lead having a good map and radios plus the whip helped let others follow through lights.

We found our way to camp and began the fun evening festivities!
