Day 2 - Yokohama Days of Thunderhill

So we fixed the car. Repairing all the stuff I should have fixed before the race. Pretty sure that is why this is Lemons and not LeMans….

New day, new driver order.

Since Zaid put in a pair of stints on Saturday I was nominated to start the second day. Not my first time in the car and I was hunting for that green. Green dropped and so did my foot. Working the brakes and tires gave me the confidence to send it into the first corner under green. Although I quickly realized that I was one of the few drivers that were not hung over. It was time to have some fun.

This post won’t have as many videos because well there wasn’t as many exciting things to share.

Queue up the radio, “I’ve got a vibration in the wheel”….

Yup because I was lazy and didn’t listen to Cam, we had a front left bearing failure 10 laps into my starting stint. I caught it early and pulled in to repair the car. Very frustrating.

How’d you like your front hub? Medium…Medium-Rare?

After seeing the bearing leaking grease and deciding to pulling off the front left hub we tried to put on the spare and hit a wall. I finally had a damn spare part and it didn’t want to fit. This isn’t fair.

We pulled out the unquestionable Mark to find another team stocking spares. He pulled through, however it also would not easily slip on the knuckle. A bit of pondering amongst the engineers and we decided to heat up the new hub and bearing. They easily take a few hundred degrees of heat so my little grill won’t hurt it. Toasted her up good and slipped on nicely. Torqued down and ready to #sendit again.

Finishing the Race

We shuffled through drivers and had a quite afternoon out on track. Xin brought the car home with no new damage and all the oil in it’s proper place. Our buddies Bernal Dads finally won class B in their Volvo wagon. Congrats to Mike!

I’ll put this as another fun weekend in the books. We will be back soon. We might do maintenance. We hope to finish.
