BajaXL 2025 Day 0 - Calexico Starting Line

The day has finally come for us to depart for Mexico! Meeting up with a group of approximately 80 other adventure seeking individuals with a total of about 50 vehicles. This should be a great trip, connecting with some old friends and I’m sure making new ones.

As we are on the road I’ll try and keep posts popping up, but is heavily dependent on internet access.

Organization is key

Keeping everything neat and tidy is always helpful when offroading, but especially so in a Miata. This we have expanded the bag organizing even further. Lots of bags to minimize dust and keep stuff from getting lost.

Mini Fridge

Who says we can’t have cold beverages while exploring in a tiny car? It doesn’t hold much, but its enough to make those long sunny days more enjoyable.

Home Sweet Home

Gonna be our command station for the next 11 days.. Priority is tablet navigation.

Extra spare fuel

In 2023 we only carried 2.5 gallons extra, with the new boost I opted to carry 6 gallons. So we should have a range of 275-350 miles depending on throttle. Will still need to manage fuel.

Crush Lights

These little guys are clutch. Light each night for the low price of tossing them on the dash each day. Little 3D print to keep them in place hopefully works.

Cleanish & Ready

Almost done playing tetris to pack all our shit in. LIghts mounted, new door magnets taped on. Must be ready to send it.

Toys for Kids of Baja

As part of the adventure, the organizers partnered with a remote school district to bring bags with school supplies. Fidget toys and stickers are obviously required supplies. Approximately 220 in total plus over 1000 stickers. Thanks to Flyin Miata, Moss Miata and Detmers Design!

Fuck you Rock

You aren’t cracking my pan this time! Replaced the 1/16” undertray with this 3/16” plate reinforced with ABS bracing to subframe. Tied into the chassis mounts. Oh and an ABS runner protecting the fuel and brake lines. Thanks mom and Rojo for the plate!

Baja dust isn't getting another motor

Well hopefully not. Properly sealed K&N plus pre-filter should work much much better than the stock airbox and flat filter element. We will know soon enough.

Equipment Exchange

Handing over my spare wheels and ARB cooler in payment to Chad for hauling them. Thanks for carrying my shit, enjoy your cold beverages on the trails.
