YOKOHAMA SEARS POINTLESS 2022 - Friday
Also know as shitbox racing. We brought the BMW E30 out to Sonoma and have started the first and most challenging part of racing….passing technical inspection. So glad we have a solid cage in the car, it makes tech inspection easier and also gives us drivers the comfort during those shady passes.
Overall today was mostly about finding a spot in the paddock amongst the field of assholes sprinkled with good people. Unfortunately LeMons attracts some selfish people and both on and off track everyone must deal with them. We arrived at the track around noon today assuming (incorrectly) that there would be some spots. We were very wrong and found a great number of self entitled a-holes taking up much larger spaces than 20’x40’. None the less we prevailed and secured a spot near track entrance, very far from any fuel or other humans.
Our paddock spot is nice and quiet from traffic, yet very noisy from cars on track.
To the various paddock asshats,….we will see you on track….we will pass you on track…we will not concede the apex to you.
After wondering through tech and hopefully passing we had to setup our paddock space. This was the easy task as we had a grill and plenty of sausage to go along with our German vehicle.
We also have the fun opportunity to walk the track, which I’ve never done at Sonoma Raceway. Always a great experience to understand at the slow speed of foot our technical road course. Such a great perspective.
For example we could see why turn 1 provided such levels of traction with its steep uphill climb towards turn 2. Below are a few shots while walking the track.
Until tomorrow when we go to battle. Seeing who’s reflexes are the least slow. I’ll see you on track!
